Welcome to Variland.
Variland is a world with edges. Each edge is guarded either by chosen guardians or by a mysterious landscape where no one shall do anything except to wonder its existence.
Variland is a world where all familiar and unfamiliar plants and animals exist. From cattles until an owl whose eyes can hypnotize everyone, or a cat gliding like flowing water. From oak trees for housing purpose until a giant web tree that only grows in a land of eternal snow and darkness.
Variland is a world where humans contribute to society through their inherited magic. To turn their bodies as a twolegs or fourlegs beast. To heal or smith using their eyes. To pathfind using their skin. To carry a library inside their mind. And to produce all the people’s need through their hands and natural elements; water, earth, metal and wood.
But as in our world, Variland is a place of ordinary entities with their own mundane and unique life.
Strength of the Varr
(divided in “clan”)
SHAPESHIFTER
The ability to turn their body into twolegs or fourlegs beastial creature. They can also enhance their senses several times stronger than a normal human being.
EXAMINATOR
The ability to possess an X-ray-like vision toward the object they are seeing (e.g. blood vessels under the the skin or molecular movement in a melted ore). Some of professions train these eyes to act as a magnifying lens.
MOTIONSENSER
The ability to navigate the world’s time, or direction through magnetic field underneath the ground surface or air current.
STORAGEHOLDER
The ability to have a “second brain” to store additional information through their perception and memory. This information is preserved through their whole lifespan and can’t be forgotten.
INFLUENCER
The ability to manipulate the natural elements (water, earth, metal, wood) and change it to produce desired product through their hands.
Seven Wonders of Variland
BALADARA OCEAN
A massive ocean that covers the eastern side of the world, stretching from the north until to the south. Once who ventures pass the Sailor’s Sea and sail to Baladara Ocean will never come back.
KHUNNUS SANDSTORM
A huge sandstorm that borders two lands with opposite climate; the land where the sun never sets, Ikrav, and the land of eternal snow and darkness, Raesphyros. No one can pass through the Sandstorm to cross the both lands.
IVORY WOODS
An ecosystem of frozen jungle. It is called as “ivory” because of the snow that lingers on the ground and the trees and never melts. The plants that grow here also only contain one single color; dark grey.
KHRAMU CAVE
A mining cave that is located in the northernmost of Variland, more precisely in Northern Raesphyros. Every half of the day, the cave will change its path inside. Among the mining community, there’s a rule saying no one shall go to certain depth of the Cave, because it has the possibility to trap you forever.
SYR’ANA GLACIER
A glacier that stretches in the northwestern part of Variland, located in Northern Nos. In front of cities, it stands like a beautiful giant ice cliff. However, one single ice particle alignment that is broken on the surface can summon giant teeth that can trap everyone inside, or in worst case, a death.
CRACKED CLIFF
A long valley that acts as a natural border between the three lands of Nos-Calix; Northern, Central and Border Nos. It separates between the soiled ground of Central and Border Nos and the icy ground of Northern Nos.
GRAND BARRICADE
The only man-made Seven Wonders; a tall concrete wall that stretches in the western and southwestern part of Variland, located in Central Nos and some parts of Border Nos. It also stands in Southern Sailor’s Sea and South Baladara Ocean. Rumors say that those who dare to approach Grand Barricade will vanish.
