Kushina’s Scythe

DESCRIPTION: A scythe almost as long as Kushina’s body length which the blade resembles the frozeneye’s (ice) axe. Here Kushina improvised the pick a bit to suit her necessity to fight against the Sect’s Water Mindbenders in Ivory Woods. The long hilt (or shaft) has two spots of wrapped cloth for her both hands during wielding.

pick/blade: a blunt, non-lethal ice axe but effective to break every kind of Water Mindbending air extraction, made of steel from the Northern Miners.

shaft/hilt: straight and almost as long as Kushina’s body, made of Khrataya wood, sturdy enough to knock someone out.

cloth: a pair of wrapped cloth for her both hnds to grip (preventing against slipping).

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

As a bicultural Maralin (her second mother comes from Northern Nos), Kushina is always fascinated by the culture around Syr’ana Glacier, especially the frozeneyes. Devoting herself to research about Mindbending handmasters, particularly Water Mindbenders whose technique is air extraction, Kushina resided for several years in Northern Nos to gain climbing license under Frozeneyes Community and learnt more about their tools, particularly their climbing ice axe that can influence the micro-scale of the ice surface of Syr’ana Glacier without producing any visible crack.

Scholars of Sorcery afterwards chose her to document the Deed from the Sect’s Water Mindbenders — one of the few Deeds that is written by an archivist instead of a seeker. So, her scythe was born and she decided to live frugally in Ivory Woods to hunt for those handmasters.

The scythe is Kushina’s main weapon, although it produces non-lethal attack — she usually uses the long hilt for knockout. But the blade is effective to break every form of Influenced water with air extraction technique, even against the shield from Water Mindbending of Musutori Reina. That means, the scythe can prevent any Influenced water from the Sect’s Water Mindbenders that can freeze the time.

Her secondary weapon, a dagger with kuuji blade, is only wielded for self-defense when she visits the headquarter of Scholars of Sorcery Mara to pick up her monthly correspondence.
